yesterday nathan got laid off from his job of 7 years. it was such a shock, we were actually thinking maybe a promotion was in line, but got quite the opposite. we aren't sure what we're going to do, but i doubt we are going to keep our house for sale. it's crazy how fast things change.
as much as it's against my judgement to trust politicians, i sure hope i can trust obama with his "plan". and i sure hope relief comes fast.

Valentines day
It's been a busy busy week. We just got back from vegas today. On
valentines day, nathan cooked dinner and dessert for me. He made a
really awesome Italian dish, and AMAZING bread pudding. You might not
understand, We LOVE bread pudding. On the cruise we ordered it almost
every night. He surprised me with a bonus check he got from work so it
was perfect timing being the day before we left for vegas. We were
able to go to a cirque du soleil show called mystere. It was awesome.
Anyways, I'll post bout vegas later.

the time has come
next thursday our house will officially be listed on the mls. this next week is going to be CRAZY! on sunday, me and nathan leave for vegas to go to wppi (a photography convention). nathan comes back tuesday and i come back wednesday. the house will be put up for sale on thursday and people are coming over to take pictures and a video tour probably saturday. this means that we have to get the basement ceiling done, baseboards done upstairs and downstairs, possibly new countertops, and CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN! the house has to be ready to show at any time so this is going to be challenging. i'm really confident in our realtor though, he has a good track record of selling fast and for a good price. when we met with him last night he actually said he'd list it for about 10,000 more than what we were thinking so we'll have some leeway for bargaining.
anyways, if anyone is bored feel free to come help us out! we'll be working on it all day wednesday, thursday night, friday night, and all day saturday next week.

project: basement

Saturday morning we went to Ikea and bought the flooring for the game room in the basement. Nathan and I started working on it as soon as we got home, then some of Nathans family volunteered to come help out that afternoon/night! I'm so glad they came, it would have taken us forever to do on our own. The one thing that took so long was trying to get the carpet glue and carpet padding off the concrete. If it weren't for that, we could have been done in a few hours. But.. we had about 6 of us scraping glue all day Saturday and a few hours on Sunday. (And we all have the bruised palms to show for it) Finally, we finished in time for the boys to sit downstairs and enjoy the superbowl. I LOVE it! It is pretty much a million times better. I feel finally like the people who used to live here before us have no mark on the house anymore. thank goodness! The old carpet reeked of them.
After all this work, yes. I still want to move. Hopefully we'll get more money out of the house when we do sell it with these new changes. But in the mean time, I feel much cleaner at home with less carpet.
